Introducing the Ontario Corn Agronomy Network

A new program to provide participants with the opportunity to share key learnings with other corn farmers

Grain Farmers of Ontario is launching a new farmer-focused corn agronomy program for 2026, building on the success of the Great Lakes Yield Enhancement Network (YEN) for wheat. The OCAN is looking to take corn to the next level!

How the program works

Our asks

Detailed protocols will be provided to participants to ensure consistent data collection. To ensure high-quality results, participating farmers must be willing to:

  • Keep detailed, accurate records of all agronomic practices of their participating corn field (e.g. planting, tillage, fertility, crop protection, etc.)
  • Conduct in-field data and sample collection at key times during the growing season
  • Share observations and learnings with the broader core farming community

The OCAN is best suited for growers who are:

  • Curious, organized, and detail oriented
  • Interested in continuous improvement
  • Willing to collaborate and learn alongside other farmers

Benefits of participation

  • Gain deeper insight into your own agronomic decisions
  • Receive detailed, individualized summaries of anonymized data collected at the end of the season
  • Evaluate your current agronomic practices
  • Participate in a province-wide network of farmers, agronomists, and researchers
